Cultural heritage

Discover the historical heritage and the stories of people from the past and present in the Bohinj tourist region.

The most important church in Bohinj is undoubtedly the Church of St John the Baptist, which is over 700 years old and stands right beside Lake Bohinj, next to the famous stone bridge. It is one of the finest examples of Slovenian medieval architecture and mural painting.

Continue on to the village of Stara Fužina, where you can explore the old village centre, the Zois Manor and the ruins of the old sawmill. Don’t miss the characteristic Bohinj hayracks in Studor and the Oplen House – a museum of the everyday culture of the people of Bohinj from the early 20th century.
