Bled is a town on the shores of Lake Bled and is one of the oldest and most beautiful tourist destinations in Slovenia. It lies at an altitude of 507 m amidst a landscape shaped by a glacier, where the glacier left behind a deep basin which, as it melted, filled with water.
The lake is 2,120 metres long and between 500 and 1,000 metres wide, with the water temperature reaching a maximum of 25 °C; in winter, the lake often freezes over. The beauty of the lake is enhanced by a unique island with a church, which you can reach by traditional flat-bottomed boat.
